FUTURES Project-ERASMUS+

It is true that at a time when many educational systems stifle creativity, imagination and critical thinking, developing ‘futures literacy’ as a capability is more urgent than ever. A capability that helps us to diversify why and how we use the future. Preparing and planning for the future along with futures literacy interventions allow young people to develop their creative and innovative thinking and become truly resilient in an everchanging and complex environment whilst considering the wider implications of their actions. Thus, young people become more ingenious in developing strategies, in increasing their productiveness and in adopting new methods or tools to utilize.

In this frame, a consortium among different institutions (Bialystok University of Technology, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, Middlesex University Higher Education Corporation, Institute for Sustainable Technologies in Poland and ValueDo s.r.l. in Florence) carries out a project that aims at innovative, future-oriented processes, methods and tools that will foster personal and professional development among high school students, European University students and Early Stage Researchers.

A research about the interconnections we can notice among futures literacy, foresight, personal and professional development, theatre arts and sustainability constitutes the initial endeavor of the project. The partners will then design and organise anticipation workshops, conduct Delphi survey and create a Foresight Toolbox and Training Manual for the abovementioned target groups.

The desired aim of the project is to disseminate a novel approach and innovative methods for Futures Literacy and Foresight techniques resulting in personal and professional development. Through this project, individuals will have the opportunity to acquire and develop key competences and to realise the importance of their actions and choices today.

The project is funded by ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education.
