The Futures Literacy Cognitive Skills training was designed with a view to helping Net-zero Emissions Maritime Hubs Deep Demonstration Design Partners and Challenge Owners dig deeper into Futures Literacy capability so they can apply it in their own innovation work.
The training covered important aspects related to how imagining futures relates to preparation and planning, as well as emergence, invention and novelty.
Futures related concepts, theories, methods and tools pertinent to both anticipation for the Future (preparation and planning) and Anticipation for Emergence (invention, novelty) were discussed and practiced along with co-creating and co-designing experiments and ideas for innovation relevant to systems’ innovation. One major objective of the training was for participants to be more skilled at switching between ‘planning mode’ and ’emergence mode’ in order to support innovation for systems transformation and resilience. The training consisted of 4 sequential modules (2 hours each), over multiple weeks.
